Submitted by Sonya Lange and Brooklyn Broadbent from MVDS’s 7&8 class
Madawaska Valley District School (MVDS) has gone through a lot this past year. With things such as combining the Sherwood Public School and our local Madawaska Valley District High School, into our new combined MVDS K-12 school. The MVDS principle and vice-principal have added a lot of new decor to our school, such as multiple signs you are likely to see on the outside and inside of our school if you ever come to visit. There are still many more changes to our brand new K-12 school especially on our elementary side. There will be a new giant sign replacing the Sherwood Public School sign on the elementary’s playground side, along with a new design wrap for their door. Another big project that will be taking place is wrapping the doors that connect the elementary and secondary side of the school while also adding a two way tint on the doors so that the secondary side can’t see into the elementary side but the elementary side can see into the secondary side. The main colours for all of these signs will be gold and blue because our MVDS school colours are gold and blue.
Our principal Mrs. Schooley wants our elementary and high school students to be more unified. Mrs. Schooley has planned to have a full MVDS school food bank bingo soon in our cafeteria. This will be one of the events where our whole school can all be together and do something. Our school has ordered new jerseys for the high school side and for the elementary side, so that our elementary side will have new jerseys that follow our school.
We asked some teachers and students questions about our school and this is what they said.
How do you feel about our new school colours?
