Wilno native runs Hamilton-based advertising agency

WILNO – A successful Hamilton-based advertising agency is co-owned by a woman who grew up in the hills of Wilno.

Jenn Burchat-Hudder is the daughter of Cheryl and Gary Burchat and sister to Leslie and Melissa. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Wilno before heading to Madawaska Valley District High School in Barry’s Bay.

After graduation, she attended Loyalist College in Belleville, where she received an advertising diploma. From there, she worked at Aecon Buildings as a marketing assistant and eventually, the marketing manager. In 2005, she took a position at Network ISG in Hamilton until 2007, when she and her business partner Chris Farias opened Kitestring Creative Branding Studio in Hamilton.

“Kitestring started from an honest love for advertising,” Burchat-Hudder explained. “Chris and I had worked in the industry for a few years at that point and we had a passion that we believed would translate into a different type of agency that would create something really special and creative. We both had this strong entrepreneurial spirit and believed that we can do it and we can do it better.”

The Hamilton-based advertising agency specializes in branding, advertising and integrated marketing campaigns, as well as web and digital development.

“What we believe makes us different is our people and our approach,” she explained. “Our team is very interdisciplinary and that comes through in the different lenses we use to tackle our client’s projects.”

Hamilton became home base for the company, because it’s centrally located in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area.
