William (Bill) Taggart

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden, tragic passing of William (Bill) Taggart in an auto accident on April loth in Phoenix, Arizona.

Bill was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada but lived most of his adult life in Ottawa, Ontario. He was the loving and most devoted husband of Patricia Wrazej, and much loved father to his son Ted (Stephanie) and daughter Jill (Blair) and Patricia’s sons, John (Patti) and Christopher (Shelagh).

Bill worked in various branches of the Canadian Government and retired as Director of Computer Services with Indian Affairs. He had always said that `’when he retired he would never spend another cold winter in this country” so when that time came he and Patricia purchased their first home in Sun City West, Arizona where they would spend the winter months and it later became their permanent address. He and Pat did a lot of traveling and were always looking forward “to the next trip”

Bill was a man of many varied interests and whatever he pursued was done with true zeal and enthusiasm. He loved sports of any kind either as a participant or a spectator, As a young man he loved flying his vintage aircraft, enjoyed scuba diving with friends including dives in the Red Sea and he could play almost any card game. His real passion was woodturning; the years of diligence and practice resulted in the creation of many beautiful, unique and complex pieces of art. A game of golf, good or bad, with his dear friends in Canada or Arizona was his delight. Most of all he loved working in his shop at the cottage on the lake at Barry’s Bay, Ontario.

Bill was a beloved and engaged grandfather with his nine grandchildren and was always so interested in what and how they are doing. They all will miss him. He is also mourned by his British Columbia siblings, nieces and nephews along with his many friends in Ottawa, Sun City West and Wadsworth Lake in Ontario.

A private burial will be held at a later date in Whitney, Ontario.
