When in doubt, check the red triangle

BARRY’S BAY – Small, often undetectable leaks can cost Barry’s Bay residents hundreds of extra dollars when the water bill arrives.

To help prevent this, the Township of Madawaska Valley is advising residents to perform a simple check on their water meter. The discussion took place at the February 2 water and wastewater committee meeting.

There, a letter from a water user was presented for committee’s review. The author spoke about her experience with a high water bill, and learning from township staff that there is a way to check for leaks using her own water meter.

“It seems to me that every time someone complains about their water bill because it spikes so high, it inevitably turns out that something has been leaking, usually a toilet,” Mayor Kim Love commented after presenting the letter.
