Two green thumbs up for local seed saving events

MAYNOOTH – Local gardeners, farmers and horticulturalists gathered last weekend in Maynooth for the 11th annual Seedy Saturday.

This event followed close on the heels of Seedy Sunday, which took place on the previous weekend at the Rankin Culture and Recreation Centre. Both events were very well attended.

Bryan Sharpe, one of the Seedy Saturday organizers, estimated that about 200 people came to the event in Maynooth over the course of the day.

Attendees came out to trade seeds with each other and to purchase seeds from vendors who had many of this year’s favourite varieties available. Some vendors sold out of their most popular seed packages before the end of the event.
