BARRY’S BAY – Have you ever wondered what makes up the litter left in the ditches? This pandemic year might be just the year to explore, given the relatively low levels of traffic on our highways, but please take care if you do.
You might have to be quick, though, because this year, lots of people have had the same idea.
One family that is out every year collecting litter is the Weckwerths. Each Earth Day, April 24th, the family does a litter pick up along the Bonnechere River on Water Street in Eganville, said Margaret Weckwerth. They are usually joined by their children and grandchildren.
Margaret said, “You can pick up litter everyday.” That’s what she and her husband, Brian, do each day on their walk.
