Santa Claus makes a pit stop in Killaloe

KILLALOE – The weather was perfect for Killaloe’s annual Santa Claus parade, sponsored by the Killaloe Lions Club.

Dozens of floats lined up along Keetch Street, to embark on the 1 p.m. parade along Queen Street.

Members of the Killaloe OPP and Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Fire Department led the way, with many dazzling floats following behind.

The parade eventually gathered at the Killaloe Lions Hall, where hundreds of kids eagerly awaited Santa’s arrival. Christmas tunes were sung by musicians Ish Theilheimer and Clint Degarie, as parents and children munched on cookies and drank some hot chocolate.

Float winners were announced shortly after. Andrew Mask Renovations, Propane Tech took home first place, with a life-like train that not only had a real bell, but also smoke that billowed out of a smokestack. Eugene’s Complete Auto Glass & Upholstery Ltd. float took home second place, for its Whoville float. Buck Hill Brake and Muffler came in third, which featured both a child-size ATV and dirt bike.
