Renfrew County warden Peter Emon recommends change to method for selecting warden.
PEMBROKE – Warden Peter Emon presented a report to the county Committee of the Whole, Corporate Services at its Sept. 10 meeting to change the way the warden position is chosen.
Emon is proposing the warden be elected at-large by voters in all 17 municipalities within the county. Currently, the warden is chosen by a vote among members of county council.
“I’m of the opinion, at this point, that the warden should be elected at-large in the next election,” said Emon. He feels the role warrants someone in the position full-time.”I think the role has evolved enough that it is a full-time job,” Emon stated.
