QUADEVILLE – More than 200 people attended a fundraiser supper Saturday evening at the community centre in Quadeville to raise funds for Maya to help her and her family through the process of recovering from injuries she suffered in late June. Pastor Joe Fiorentino from the Quadeville Pentacostal Church said the dinner raised a total of $6,300 from 206 visitors. The GoFundMe campaign is at more than $17,000 as of Monday morning.
Tables were full inside and outside the community centre with people filing in steadily from when the dinner began at 4 p.m. The cold supper included a cornucopia of salads along with ham and turkey. The dessert table would have satisfied anyone’s sweet tooth.
Mayor Valerie Jahn was on hand and helped out in the kitchen cleaning dishes with the many volunteers who made the evening possible.
One family drove from near Belleville when they heard about the event from another family member who lives in Quadeville. They thought it would be a good drive and a good cause to support. They regretted not bringing their boat. Next time, they agreed.
