Ottawa Senators Alumni shut out Algonquin Park Canoe Heads 9-0

BARRY’S BAY – On February 28, at the Paul J Yakabuski Community Centre, the Ottawa Senators Alumni, who were joined by the law enforcement all-stars and the Algonquin Park Canoe Heads met in a fundraiser hockey game in support of the Barry’s Bay and Area Sledge Hockey Association.

MPP John Yakabuski opened the afternoon event by singing the National Anthem and was followed by Special Olympic Athletes Devin McGrath and Nadia Bonney who together dropped the opening pucks for the game.

The teams played two-20 minute periods before a large crowd of over 500. The only goal of the first period was scored by Sens Sean Donovan who unleashed a wicked wrist shot that went top corner.

After the first period, the intermission included a performance by the Barry’s Bay and Area Skating Club, featuring Brittany Yantha, Megan O’Malley, Charlie Stoppa and Aimee Cybulskie.

That was followed by the Chuck-A-Puck, with the winner being Danny Yaraskavitch, who won a Bobby Ryan autographed sweater.
