Male suspect wanted following assault
The Renfrew OPP detachment is investigating a “serious assault” in the Town of Renfrew.
Police are searching for a male described as Black, 5’9″ to 6 feet (175 to 183 cm), hair on top of his head with sides shaved. He is described as having a goatee and a “five-star tattoo above the left eyebrow and another tattoo under his left eye.” He was last seen wearing a purple plaid jacket, possibly with black shorts and a blue shirt.
A release from the Renfrew OPP detachment states that a woman arrived at a local hospital on Aug. 28 reporting she had been, “held against her will and sexually assaulted,” at a motel on Stewart Street. The woman stated she knows the male suspect and that he had a handgun.
The male had already left the motel when officers arrived, however, he was spotted walking in the area. The suspect fled onto the Algonquin Trail when officers attempted to arrest him.
Members from the Renfrew OPP detachment, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Tactics and Rescue unit conducted a search of the area. The OPP issued a shelter in place warning out of caution about 9 p.m.. The media release reads, “there was believed to be no threat to the general public.”
Police lifted the shelter in place advisory at about 1 a.m. Aug. 29. The release states, “it appeared the male had managed to flee from the area.”
Police urge the individual to turn himself in. Anyone who sees someone fitting the description or sees any suspicious activity is asked to call 911 immediately. Police caution that the public is not to approach the individual.

The OPP issued a correction to update the location of the motel.
