Oil spill research on the Bonnechere River

RENFREW – A group of people concerned about the dangers of the proposed Energy East oil sands pipeline gathered on the banks of the Bonnechere River on June 5, World Environment Day.

They stood in persistent rain under the Highway 17 bridge near Renfrew to take part in a drift card study.

The group threw 200 pink drift cards into the Bonnechere River in order to model the effects of an oil spill in the area.
