Man found after fleeing scene of fatal collision

Hastings Highlands – On the morning of May 20, the Ontario Provincial Police were searching by air and ground for 21-year-old Tyler Garey of Central Frontenac Township after he had fled the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.

According to a press release issued by Renfrew OPP, the accident occurred at approximately 3:05 a.m. on May 20 on Byers Road involving a truck. Twenty-nine-year-old Curtis Brown of Renfrew was pronounced deceased at the scene. A male passenger of Addington Highlands Township that was travelling in the box of the truck received minor injuries.
Garey fled on foot prior to Bancroft OPP arriving on the scene of the accident. He was later found in the area of Siberia Road near the intersection of Kubesheski Road in Hastings Highlands Township after the OPP canine, OPP helicopter and OPP Emergency Response Team members were called in.
