Madawaska Valley Fire Department receives grant for a new defibrillator

BARRY’S BAY- When Fire Chief, Corwin Quade, first took over at this position with the Madawaska Valley Fire Department around a year ago, he quickly realised that the department was missing a very important tool, a defibrillator.

“When I came on it was one of our proprieties. The budget was tight, so I started looking for grants through different government things,” said Quade.

He decided to get in touch with MPP for Renfrew, Nipissing, and Pembroke, John Yakabuski. He suggested that Quade should get in touch with Hydro One to see what grants they had available. Once he got in contact with Hydro One, Quade said within a month they got back to him and explained the process to apply for the Safe Community Grant.
