Joseph R. Schwieg

January 16, 1925 – March 29, 2020

It is with sadness that we announce that Joseph passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s
Bay with his family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Margaret and
Frank, his brother Evan and his sisters Deenie (Bellisle) and Yvonne (Hulagrocki). Loving husband of 66 years to Noreen (Brezinskie).
Father to Joseph (Connie), Bradley (Sharon), Jeff and Candace (Jim). Brother to Gladys Bellisle. Grandfather to Joseph (Michelle), Bobby (Jodie Lynn), Crystal (Tony), Bradley (Julie) and Taylor (Samantha) and Great-
Grandfather to Owen, Ryder, Cole, Maggie, Grace, Ava, Charlie, Aurora, Jacob and Lily.
Joe was a Second World War veteran who served overseas in the
Medical Corp. He was an avid outdoorsman and golfer and was a
fierce competitor at cards. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and
Blue Jays, particularly when they were winning. Joe was an entertaining
story-teller, a great lullaby- singer and played a mean Hawaiian guitar
and harmonica. He was quick with his comebacks and had a saying for
every occasion. “Don’t take any wooden nickels up there Dad”.
The family would like to thank the staff of Water Tower Lodge and St.
Francis Memorial Hospital for all their kindness and support.
A family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
