BARRY’S BAY – Volunteers from all spectrums of health care were honoured with a special luncheon on May 29.

That afternoon, volunteers gathered at the Barry’s Bay Royal Canadian Legion Branch 406. They lend their time to organizations like the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, Valley Manor, hospital auxiliary, Barry’s Bay and Area Senior Citizen Home Support and the Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care.

Joanne King, executive director of the Barry’s Bay and Area Senior Citizen Home Support, emceed the event.

“You are the rainbow that shines over our community and the people living in the community,” she said. “I know how many of you volunteer everyday, either formally or informally. This is the first time we are having a multi-agency volunteer appreciation event here.”
