Gun show draws vendors from across Ontario and Quebec

BARRY’S BAY – It is reported that between 22 and 29 per cent of Canadian households own firearms.

Many gun owners, and would-be gun owners, attended the Madawaska Valley Gun and Sportsmen’s Show this past weekend. The show ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the Canadian Shooting Sports Association, “There is an average of three firearms in every gun-owning Canadian household. The majority of gun-owning households in Canada own rifles and/or shotguns; on a per capita basis, Canadians own nearly as many rifles as Americans.”

Over the weekend, 46 vendors displayed guns across 94 tables at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre in Barry’s Bay. According to one of the event organizers, John Rutledge, the vendors came from all over Ontario and Quebec.
