Finance and administration committee prepares job postings, township without CAO again

BARRY’S BAY – During the finance and administration committee meeting for the Township of Madawaska Valley on February 28, Mayor Kim Love made a statement at the start of the meeting.
“Mr. [Doug] Robertson is no longer with the municipality, I will be providing an update to the citizens and taxpayers of Madawaska Valley at the regular council meeting on March 5. Until then I have no comment,” said Love.
Robertson was the former CAO for the township. Because of this, Love brought forward a report asking committee for some direction on the next steps to replace the CAO. She also was seeking advice on what to do with the position of the Recreation and Community Development Coordinator and the Combermere Facilities Manager.
“I would like to get some good discussion going so we can actually be moving these forward,” said Love.
The first position they discussed was the Recreation and Community Development Coordinator position.
Love said a revised job description was complete and the position was ready to be advertised. She said she wanted to send the job description to the County of Renfrew to be scored.
Councillor Shelley Maika said she thought they had done this already. It was then moved by Councillor Maika and seconded by Councillor Elser Lee Faith Archer.
The motion was carried and the position will be advertised internally for seven days. If they do not find a suitable applicant after those seven days, the job posting will be sent out to the public.
