RENFREW – Doug Ford promised a crowd of approximately 500 people that things are going to change come June 7. The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party leader visited Renfrew County with a stop at the Renfrew Armouries building on the evening of May 9. He was introduced to the crowd by Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski. “Thank you to all you folks for coming out here and showing your spirit and sending a clear message to Kathleen Wynne that Ontario is ready for change,” Yakabuski told the crowd as many people waved flags stating, Doug – For the People. Yakabuski thanked the team of volunteers who organized Ford’s inaugural campaign rally. He then jumped to the issues as hand. “I have been out there listening to local people and I can tell you now that people are fed up. They are frustrated with their hydro bills. They are frustrated with their taxes. They want to see more jobs. They want to see shorter wait times. They want to know who is looking out for them. They want to know who is looking out for the people,” Yakabuski said. “I know the answer. Let me tell you who is looking out for you. Let me tell you who is out there fighting for the people. Doug Ford is out there fighting for the people. Our PC candidates all across Ontario are out there fighting for the people.” The crowd cheered loudly as Yakabuski introduced Ford into the building. As he entered hall, Ford shook several people’s hands before making his way to the stage. “It’s great to be here my friends,” he said, before stating that the current Ontario Premier, Kathleen Wynne, has “destroyed” this province. “We have the largest debt. She set a world record,” Ford said. “$346 billion of your money, my money, your children’s money and your grandchildren’s money.” But he claimed Wynne’s reign is not going to last come June. “Things are going to change,” he said.
