Holiday cheer spilled over from the Santa Claus parade to St. Lawrence O’Toole Church this weekend.

On Sunday, Daly Construction served up 100 free holiday turkeys to eager residents following the Santa Claus parade.

Residents lined up at a table at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church parking lot to pick up their Butterball turkeys. The donation setup moved to its new location from the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.

“It’s not about how much it is — it’s if you can help people out then that’s what matters to us,” says Marcia Daly, Daly Construction manager and administrator.

Daly Construction’s turkey donation marked its sixth year. Because of the pandemic, the company held off on turkey donations last year. Instead, the company made a donation to the Madawaska Valley Food Bank.

Chris Daly, owner of Daly Construction, knows what it’s like to grow up without much money during the holidays. So, he aims to give back through his company’s annual turkey donation each year.

“He loves to see the smile on the people’s faces knowing how much they need it,” says Marcia Daly. “Chris isn’t looking for a pat on the back, he’s just looking to make sure families can have a nice turkey.”
