Construction nearing completion at St. John Bosco

BARRY’S BAY – It took a couple of years of planning, funds from the province, and a summer’s worth of construction – but a new daycare at St. John Bosco Catholic School is almost complete. That’s the word from Principal Julia Graydon, who said the daycare is expected to be open in the new year. Graydon became principal at St. John Bosco two years ago. She began her journey with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) at St. Mar’s in Deep River in 1999, before heading to St. Francis of Assisi, where she taught Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 5 and 6. Then, before coming to St. John Bosco as principal, she was the learning and technology special assignment teacher for the school board. After the ministry announced the funding, the RCCDSB confirmed it would be adding a daycare to St. John Bosco. Graydon was part of the initial walkthrough of the building with Killaloe Community Resource Executive Director Bil Smith in 2016. It was to determine if the school would be a feasible location for a licensed daycare. “Barry’s Bay didn’t have a fully licensed daycare at the time,” Graydon said.
