Boy donates hair to cancer patients

ARRY’S BAY – It is rare when children decide to commit to a selfless act, like growing out and donating their hair to patients who have lost theirs to cancer.

Although several local girls have gone through the process, it is even more uncommon when the donor is a young boy.

Jack Prince, 11, is a Grade 6 student at St. John Bosco Catholic School. He started growing out his hair two years ago. A year into the process, he decided that he wanted to grow out his hair longer and donate it, so that his hair could be turned into wigs for cancer patients.

Although he does not know anyone with the disease, he felt it was the right thing to do.

“It was growing out and I just decided to do it,” he said.
