A taste of the Valley

BARRY’S BAY – Parking spaces were tough to find for the annual Taste of the Valley event at the Railway Station grounds on August 18.

It was a good sign for the annual festival, which had 60 vendors from as far away as Arnprior and Bancroft take part. Culture and Tourism Coordinator Anya Gansterer said this is one of the biggest turnouts to date in Barry’s Bay.

The hundreds of people that came out to the event had the chance to sample locally made food, ranging from maple syrup to garlicky goods. Many local artisans and caterers also took part in the festival.

Chris Hum, The Valley Shanty Man, provided musical entertainment. He was joined at one point by young Dexter Sernoskie, who is heading to Manotick for a fiddle camp.
