A life’s work, gone in minutes

EGANVILLE – Quick action by fire fighters saved the house at a farm on Cold Creek Road outside Eganville on the morning of May 25.

The first fire truck on the scene at 10 a.m., encountered a row of burning barns, engulfed in smoke and fire, said North Algona Wilberforce (NAW) Fire Chief, Rick Marshall.

The barns stretch in a row at least a hundred metres from the road, but only 20 metres from the front corner of the house. A hedgerow directly in front of the house and ten metres away, was also on fire.

Heat from the intense fire blistered the siding at the front and side of the house.
