BARRY’S BAY – Many towns and cities across North America have made the preservation and restoration of historic buildings an important part of their community development plans. The charm, character and craftsmanship of older houses and commercial buildings add to the cultural and aesthetic value of both business and residential quarters.
As development in Barry’s Bay continues to skyrocket, appreciating the value of older buildings begins to take on greater importance. Properties that once were overlooked because of their age are now valued because of their enduring qualities. Like fine wine and good men, some buildings just get better with age.
One property that had waited for some time to find its perfect owner is situated at 19565 Opeongo Road in downtown Barry’s Bay. Although the building screams LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION, it took a while for the right buyer to come along and love it.
Barry and Kristen Kuiack purchased the property last spring and have been busy transforming it into a refurbished commercial space that houses Kristen’s real estate offices as well as the new Church Street Flowers location. Kristen said, “The property is zoned commercial. We purchased the property as an investment property and to have a commercial office space in town for Kristen’s real estate office the Graves Kuiack Group of EXIT Ottawa Valley Realty.”
