Sun comes out for Polish Day Kashub Day Festival

WILNO – After a week of wet weather, the sun shone for the Polish Day Kashub Day Festival at the Wilno Heritage Park on May 4.

The proceedings began at 11 a.m. with a short prayer from Reverend Orville Rumleski.  He asked for a blessing on the event, its leaders and the generations to come.

Richard Sernoski, who has long been associated with the event, led the singing of Oh Canada!

President of the Wilno Heritage Society, Peter Glofcheskie, gave some remarks. He said that this year there will be a celebration of the 125th anniversary of the railway coming to Killaloe, Wilno and Barry’s Bay. A development that brought profound changes to the area.
