125 events to celebrate Eganville’s 125th anniversary

EGANVILLE – The Township of Bonnechere Valley (TBV) is celebrating the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of the village of Eganville with a host of events throughout the year under the “Eganville 125” banner.

Dana Jennings, Community Development Officer for the Township of Bonnechere Valley, said, “It was the idea of council to come up with 125 events to celebrate the 125th.”

Already this year, said Jennings, “We’ve had thirty two events.” These have ranged from the traditional Robbie Burns Celebration organized by the Bonnechere Museum to an adult badminton evening at Eganville District Public School organized by the township on Monday evenings.

Jennings said, there will be at least a hundred more events throughout the year.

Jennings said that council is reaching out to all groups within the community to help celebrate the 125th. Groups are encouraged to organize their usual events as part of the 125 celebrations but also create new events. For example, Melville United Church is hosting a Shantyman’s Dance on April 10 at the Eganville Legion.
