BARRY’S BAY Despite the frosty, cold evening, more than 150 people gathered at the Railway Station in Barry’s Bay on Friday, December 7 to watch the trees light up.

In its 17th year, the annual Tree of Lights celebration is organized by the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.

The foundation works with community partners to help support St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay, Rainbow Valley Health Centre in Killaloe, Valley Manor and the hospice palliative care program.

This year, the fundraising effort is directed to help the hospital buy 15 new intravenous pumps at total cost of $75,000 in a program called the Gift of a Life Line.

Foundation Executive Director Toni Lavigne-Conway acted as emcee for the evening ceremony.

She introduced sisters Solana and Luna Nordholt who opened the program with a beautiful rendition of Jingle Bells.
