Sophie was born on August 19, 1928 in Uhrynow

in 1929 and settled in the Abernathy District in Saskatchewan. In 1951
she travelled to Sudbury where she met Jim. They were married in
Combermere in 1952 and returned to the Sudbury area where they lived
for 50 years before building a home and moving to Combermere in 2002.
Sophie was an exceptional homemaker with a passion for gardening.
She was an excellent cook and baker and loved entertaining family and
friends. Her many pleasures included wintering in Arizona, listening to
good, old-time music and dancing – especially the Polka.
The family would like to thank Dr. Malinowski and the nursing and
care teams at Water Tower Lodge, Bayshore Healthcare and St. Francis
Memorial Hospital for their exceptional kindness and loving care of
Sophie.
A graveside service was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in
Combermere on July 10, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later
date. In honor of Sophie donations may be made to the St. Francis Valley
Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 129, 7 St. Francis Memorial Drive, Barry’s
