PALMER RAPIDS – A recent purchase by the township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan (BLR) has made skate sharpening service available a little closer to home for local residents.
BLR Facility Manager Jordan Genrick said that everyone in the office had been on the lookout to purchase a used skate sharpening machine. In her search last year, BLR Deputy Clerk Virginia Phanenhour came across a DupliSkate machine on a Buy and Sell Site in North Bay. She printed off the details for Genrick so that he could present the idea to council at a meeting last year.
“I took it to Council, I did a little proposal to them, and they liked the idea,” Genrick said.
Last September Genrick drove to Sturgeon Falls, where a sports store owner was closing down his business and selling off his entire stock. Genrick said the seller even knocked a bit off the asking price.
