BARRY’S BAY – The construction at Madawaska Valley District High School, which will make room for the integration of Sherwood Public School, is nearing completion.
In February, representatives from the Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) toured the high school to see completed rooms and those that are near completion.
Sherwood Public School will be located on the first floor of what is referred to as the B-Wing. The high school will consist of the second and third floor of B-Wing, as well as the C-Wing. The library will be designed as the common area and shared between the two schools.
Michele Emond, project manager of construction with the Renfrew County District School Board, said it was important to offer the tour to members of the school board.
“I think it gives a sense of what the new area for the elementary school is going to look like,” she said. “It will put people’s minds at ease when they see what has been done to give the high school students a better place to learn.”
Construction is expected to be completed by September 2016, with some work on the library expected to be completed in October.
