Sharing the blessings of Christmas

KILLALOE – “We collect new and gently used toys from the community …We turn them around and give them to kids in the community,” Bil Smith said in launching this year’s toy and food drive.

Smith is the Executive Director of the Community Resource Centre (CRC) which organizes a toy and food drive.

“We need good new clothing, hats and mitts as well as gently used toys,” Smith said.

The aim of the program is to brighten the spirits of children in the festive season.

We provide whatever the family needs, Smith said.

Families can call the CRC at 613-757-3108 to register their children so that the CRC can tailor each gift.

Smith said, “We ask them what their child likes and we’ll try to pack them a bag of toys and clothes.”

Smith said that last year they gave out toys and clothes to 250 children in the county, from Whitney to Cobden, as well as Palmer Rapids, Round Lake and Combermere.
