Residents help set roadmap for township

BARRY’S BAY – Two workshops held last week provided residents the chance to give their input on how tax dollars should be spent in the township.

On August 26, residents gathered at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre to discuss the township’s municipal strategic plan.

The meeting was led by Paul Blais, of Millier Dickinson Blais, the company contracted to form the plan. Essentially, it is a community based and goal oriented strategic plan, which sets a roadmap for the township and provides guidance for decision making in the future. Municipal strategic plans support funding applications and provide guidance when tough decisions are required.

Mayor Kim Love was in attendance and she welcomed everyone to the planning sessions. Love stressed that the development of the plan is a very important process the municipality is going through.

“We are attempting to figure out where we want to go as a community and what we want to be when we get there so we can lay a path in that direction,” Love said. “So this is a very important exercise for us and I really appreciate you are giving in your time.”
