Record high enrollment at OLSW College

BARRY’S BAY – After achieving degree awarding status from the province earlier in the year, Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College (OLSW) in Barry’s Bay is experiencing record levels of enrolment.

President of the college, Dr. Keith Cassidy, said there are more than 130 students enrolled presently for the three-year bachelor of Catholic Liberal Arts curriculum. More than 50 students are in their first year of enrolment.

Speaking about the enrolment numbers, Cassidy said, “This represents a very significant increase and is in large part because we have achieved degree granting status this past year, on May 1 [2017].”

In 2016, enrolment was around 100 students.

Cassidy continued, “We also achieved the right to use the word ‘college’ instead of the word ‘academy’, which clarified our status for people, particularly from other parts of the world who thought academy meant a high school.”
