Provincial tournament cut short

ARNPRIOR – Hundreds of players from all over the province had gathered play at the Nick Smith Centre arena in Arnprior on Friday 14 March in the provincial broomball tournament.

Two local teams were on the roster to play. Team Chaos, intermediate men, were scheduled to play at 8 a.m.. Valley Lakers, intermediate co-ed played at noon.

The Team Chaos game was delayed for fifteen minutes because two team members blew a tire on the journey to the arena.

Team Chaos were playing Palmerston, ON (about an hour east of Goderich on Lake Huron).

Within two minutes of the start of the game Palmerston scored the first goal. For most of the first half, Team Chaos were staked back in their own half.

There was much praise for the Team Chaos goalkeeper, Andrew Herron. From the Palmerston bench was heard, “Goalie is good, I’ll give him that.”
