Pageant seeking delegates and sponsors

BARRY’S BAY – Miss Madawaska Valley is looking for girls of inner and outer beauty to register for the upcoming third annual pageant.

Pageant founder Theresa Paplinski and PoP (Place of Peace) Ministries representative Elser Lee Faith Archer announced that the pageant is slated for February 25 at 7 p.m. at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre. Organizers are putting out a call to the community, and are looking for both delegates and sponsors for the event.

Paplinski, former Miss Teen Ontario East, is currently enrolled at Ottawa University for political sciences. Since she is away from the community, she has asked Archer to help with organizing the pageant.

“I am still involved, but it’s more of a partnership, a team effort now,” Paplinski told the Gazette.

Archer, also a Madawaska Valley councillor, said it was a pleasure get involved. She said it was a natural transition, as Paplinski was the youth director for PoP Ministries.

The organizers are now looking for around 20 girls, between the ages of 14 to 19 years of age, to enter this year’s pageant. The winner then has the option to compete in the 2017 Miss Teen Ontario East pageant, held in Renfrew.
