OPP reminds drivers to slow down when approaching emergency vehicles

ORILLIA – For the second year in a row, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are saying that the number of charges being laid in regard to drivers who fail to slow down or move over when passing an emergency vehicle continue to be on the rise.

In 2016, the OPP laid 2,433 ‘Move Over’ and related charges. This statistic surpasses the number of charges from 2015 by a significant margin.

The OPP says this is a clear sign that drivers are failing to consider the safety and well-being of roadside emergency workers.
