Eight cases of COVID-19 associated with local church

After conducting research, the Valley Gazette learned that eight of the COVID-19 cases in the Madawaska Valley stem from an event that was held at the Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish in Combermere, Ontario.

“So far it seems to be confined to one or two wings of a large family,” says Dr. Rob Cushman, acting medical officer of health for Renfrew County. “And one member is actually quite sick.”

Cushman added that the Renfrew County District Health Unit (RCDHU) is working with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health to identify individuals in their district who are also affected by the recent COIVD-19 outbreak.
