National Nursing Week

This week marks National Nursing Week and we would like to thank all the nurses in the area. Hour after hour, day after day, week after week, month after month, our local nurses have been there for us. The emergency nurses who deal with everything from a cut finger, to a life threatening situation. The palliative care nurses who are there for our elderly in their last stages of life. The nurses working the front-lines in the Covid 19 Vaccine Clinics, the nurses delivering your babies and the list goes on and on. Nurses are our sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers, grandmothers, neighbours, friends and above all, our life line. This year’s theme for Nursing Week 2021 is “WE ANSWER THE CALL.” The below photos are some of the nurses that work at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, submitted by Melanie Coulas.

When the first wave of the pandemic was upon us, nurses stepped up and faced the challenge head on with skill, compassion and grace. And now more than ever, their strength and resilience continues to move us all forward. I am very proud of our SFMH Team. Thank you for all you do for patients, families, and communities. I wish each of you a very Happy Nurses Week.
Mary-Ellen Harris, CNE & Director of Patient Care Services SFMH
