BARRY’S BAY – Madawaska Valley Mayor Kim Love was elected by her peers and appointed as representative for Zone 6 to the Board of Directors for the Rural Ontario Mayors Association (ROMA) during the January 28 elections for the ROMA Board.

According to CAO/Clerk Suzanne Klatt, the township was well represented at the ROMA Conference in Toronto. Mayor Love was joined by Councillors Ernie Peplinski, David Shulist, and Mark Willmer who were in attendance campaigning and supporting Mayor Love’s nomination to be appointed to the ROMA Board of Directors.  Mayor Love was nominated by her previous Council to put her name forward to sit on the Board of Directors for ROMA and the nomination was further supported by her new Council.

Love thanked her fellow council members and the Rural Mayors’ Forum of Eastern Ontario for helping to build support for her nomination across Zone 6 and campaigning on her behalf. She expressed gratitude and appreciation for the encouragement, endorsement and team effort of County Council Members during her campaign.

“I am deeply honoured to represent these amazing, dedicated Municipal Council Members and their rural communities across Zone 6,” she said in a statement.

Alongside the community representatives throughout Zone 6, Mayor Love and Madawaska Valley Council will be working together and cooperatively to give Rural Ontario a strong voice.

More details will be in the February 6 Valley Gazette.
