MV Lions 51st annual Santa Claus parade

BARRY’S BAY – Santa made a special visit to Barry’s Bay on December 3, bringing happy tidings for the upcoming holiday season.

In his sleigh, Santa had a special guest with him this year, Barry’s Bay’s very own Chadd Stoppa, who was all smiles while he braved the cold weather to help wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

The parade consisted of an array of colourful and festive floats, decorated by local businesses and organizations, some very creative. Sherwood Public School’s float was a Hawaiian theme, depicting Santa during his post-holiday vacation, complete with a pig on a spit.

The winners of this year’s float competition were: Eugene’s Auto Glass (First place winners) with their recreation of Whoville including the Grinch himself; Barry’s Bay Metro (first place runner up); and, Barry’s Bay Girl Guides (second place runner up.)

There were 23 floats in total this year, keeping on par with last year’s parade. The MV Lions were pleased with the turnout.
