BARRY’S BAY – Madawaska Valley Township council met on January 22 for the first regular meeting of 2019.

The meeting started with a delegation from the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation, who provided an update on the redevelopment of the new Valley Manor. Representatives were seeking a $30,000 donation from the township, to help pay for the new building.

Council reviewed and passed a number of recommendations from the council-in-committee meeting held earlier in January.

Several municipal reports were on the table, including a donation request from the Peterson Pathfinders, looking to use Crooked Slide Park in Combermere as a registration centre for a poker run.

Council reviewed a radio lease agreement for the public works department, as well as a facility use agreement with local snowmobile clubs.

Due to this council meeting being held after the Gazette’s press deadline, full details from this council meeting will be published in the January 30 Valley Gazette.
