Madawaska remembers

MADAWASKA – On Sunday, November 8, Madawaska held its Remembrance Day Memorial Service. The parade left the community centre in Madawaska and made its way over to the Cenotaph.
The parade consisted of two Service Battalion Petawawa, the North Hastings Highlanders and members of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 406 of Barry’s Bay.
This year marked the tenth anniversary for the Cenotaph in Madawaska.
A huge group of people gathered together that chilly morning to pay their respects to the fallen veterans of Madawaska and the ones who still serve today.
Master of ceremonies this year was South Algonquin Councillor Joe Florent. The Last Post Buglar was Master Warrant Officer Hann. South Algonquin’s Mayor Jane Dumas was also in attendance. A large number of wreaths were laid by a number of local people from Madawaska and Whitney areas.
