Local teen excels at Miss Teenage Canada 2017

BARRY’S BAY– Barry’s Bay teen Sophia DeCarle recently received an overwhelming top 3 title and the Miss Teen Social Media Award at the Miss Teenage Canada 2017 Nationals held in Richmond Hill on August 13.

For DeCarle, she was thrilled with the outcome, but said the opportunity to compete was a life-changing blessing.

“Through my experience leading up to Miss Teenage Canada and also being there for the week in preparation, I have acquired many skills that I will carry throughout my life,” DeCarle told The Gazette.

For the seven days leading up to the show on Sunday evening, DeCarle had a chance to meet the 58 other delegates from all over Canada. Quickly strangers became friends and memories would be made. From there it was a whirlwind of activity with early mornings and long days filled with meeting sponsors, fun-filled afternoons, rehearsals, exploring a bit of Toronto and making public appearances.
