BARRY’S BAY – Madawaska Valley District High School (MVDHS) Principal, Dave Bishop, argues that small high schools have to adopt different technologies to accommodate the needs of students.
The school is limited in the number of courses it can offer based on student numbers. Schools concentrate the traditional method of having a teacher at the front of the classroom on courses with the most students. In order to offer a broader range of subject courses, schools in the county, now rely on new and changing forms of technology.
Bishop said, MVDHS has about 375 students and over 400 computers, which gives the students the hardware to access other methods of learning.
“We have tons of computers and devices for kids to use,” Bishop said.
The theory behind more computers in school, said Bishop, is to encourage collaboration.
