Letter to Culleton the day before her murder

OTTAWA  – The jury hearing the case against the man accused of murdering Carol Culleton, Anastasia Kuzyk and Nathalie Warmerdam on September 22, 2015, was presented with a letter in the Ottawa Courthouse last week.

The nine-page, almost 2,000 word letter, posted to Carol Culleton’s home address in North Gower was in an envelope postmarked Palmer Rapids on September 21, 2015, the day before the murders.

While the letter carries no signature, the crown alleges the letter was written by the accused, Basil Borutski. The crown will enter the testimony of a handwriting expert supporting that allegation later in the trial, said crown attorney Jeffrey Richardson.

If it was written by the accused, it provides insight into the state of mind of the accused leading up to the murders.
