Kids flock to Bob Izumi fishing tournament

WHITNEY – A total of 116 kids braved the cold on March 1 for the seventh-annual Bob Izumi Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Tournament.
For the first time ever, the free event was held on Poverty Lake just outside of Whitney. In the past, it was held on Galeairy Lake.
Laurie Siydock is the detachment clerk from the Whitney OPP Detachment and is one of the event organizers.
She said the fishing tournament is always a hit with families from all over.
“Kids look forward to it,” she said.
