Kenneth Bennidict Norlock, 70, was surrounded by loved
ones when he passed away suddenly from lung cancer on
June 16th, 2019 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s
Bay. He was born on April 12th, 1949 in Renfrew, Ontario
to Philip and Amelia (Prince) Norlock.
After high school, Ken moved to Kitchener to apprentice
at Jerry Zister’s garage, and became a licensed
automobile mechanic after studying at Conestoga
College in Cambridge ON. In 1984, Ken returned to Barry’s
Bay to work for Walter Dombroskie and later Leo Potvin.
As a youth, Ken was adventurous, mischievous, and enjoyed life. He loved
hunting, fishing and cottaging. He had an affinity for old cars, especially the
Thunderbird and Impala. Throughout his life, Ken could be found tinkering
with things, whether it be taking apart electronics, fixing his daughter’s car or
building his motorized meccano kits. Ken’s kitchen table was always filled with
his latest hobby which included puzzles, knitting and cross-stitch and model
making. He also spent a lot of time “cruising” the streets in town on his three
wheeled bike. Ken was always willing to help someone in need and to share
what he could. He cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren
and friends.
Ken is survived by his three children; Jenniffer (Jerry) Maher, Stacey (Brian
Voldock) Biernaskie; and Philip (Jennifer) Norlock, from his marriage to Barbara
Dombroskie; his 6 grandchildren Victoria, Johnathan, Alyssa, Amelia, Jacob
and Ethyn; his 2 brothers, Clemence and Nicholas; and his 4 sisters, Shirley,
Annie, Esther, and Bernice.
In keeping with Ken’s wishes, the funeral services will be private. In lieu of
flowers please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or share
with his family a memory of how he touched your life.
