MAYNOOTH –     After years of unsuccessful grant applications, the Municipality of Hastings Highlands received word that five kilometres of Highway 62 in Maynooth will finally be resurfaced.

A special announcement was made on August 1 in Maynooth, with federal and provincial dignitaries in attendance. Also attending the announcement were representatives from nearby Tudor and Cashel Township, as well as Carlow Mayo Township.

Hastings Highlands Mayor Vic Bodnar welcomed everyone, and introduced Mike Bossio, Member of Parliament for Hastings-Lennox and Addington, who spoke on behalf of the Honourable Laurie Scott, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure.

“When we work together,  it’s amazing what we can accomplish,” Bossio said. “From the moment that our government was elected, our goal has been to invest in Canadians to address a lot of the unique challenges that we are experiencing today.”

Bossio said those challenges range from an aging demographic, aging infrastructure, to competing in a digital economy, to climate change.
