MAYNOOTH – Frank Hickey was sworn in as the newest member of council for the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, during the September 6 regular council meeting.
Hickey was taking the Bangor Wicklow McClure Ward 1 council seat that had been vacant. He has been appointed by council to fill the seat Councillor Bert Cannon left vacant after passing away in early July.
During the most recent council meeting on August 23, the council talked about their options and, after some discussion, they decided to appoint the seat to the candidate who finished third highest in the voting for that council seat during the last election. In that election, Hickey finished behind Cannon and (current) Councillor Tracy Hagar.
